This painting shows Steamer Dewey, a converted steamboat that was once one of many lifeboats for a Lake Michigan ship. At the time I painted this, Baby Dewey (Steamer Dewey's companion) was out on the lake, taking a group of passengers for a ride.

Dunes Creek, Indiana Dunes depicts the place where Dunes Creek empties into Lake Michigan at the Indiana Dunes State Park at Porter Beach. The view was captured from the top of a dune near the park pavilion. Dunes Creek has a storied past, having been buried under a parking lot for 80 years before being daylighted in 2012 to its current open view.
